Stevie Graham | 1957 - 2021 - By Steven Mew

Brechin City is saddened to confirm the recent passing of former striker Stevie Graham. Stevie, who played for the Club in the early 1980s, passed away at the age of 63 following a lengthy battle with illness.

Stevie spent 3 years at Glebe Park having joined from Forfar Athletic in 1980. As a striker with a distinctive style in a successful team, he made over 60 appearances and scored 22 goals for City before brief stints with Forfar (again) and Cowdenbeath.

His spell with the Club saw him play a part the Championship winning side of 1982/83 and also included two memorable Scottish Cup-ties at The Glebe against Dundee United in the Januarys of 1981 and 1982.

Stevie’s family in Derbyshire have been in touch with the Club over the past few weeks as his condition deteriorated. We’re told that Stevie thoroughly enjoyed receiving a range of club memorabilia relevant to the time and that this put a huge smile on his face. He delighted in recalling his Brechin City tales to those closest to him as the gifts provoked so many happy and positive memories of his time with the Club.

Doubtless many Brechin City fans will remember Stevie well and with fondness. The thoughts of those associated with the Club are with his family and friends at such a difficult time.
