Match Preview | Kelty Hearts v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City head into two of the most important games in the Club's 115-year history tomorrow evening as they travel to face Kelty Hearts in the first leg of the League Two Playoff final.

Despite a troubled season, Michael Paton's side go into the game with plenty of belief that they can maintain City's SPFL status and will be keen to take a positive result into the second leg at Glebe Park on Sunday.

Kelty were crowned as Lowland League champions on a points-per-game basis having played just 13 fixtures, which set up a Playoff semi final against Brora Rangers. The Fifers' place in the final never looked in any real doubt as they cruised through 6-1 on aggregate, with Nathan Austin netting a hat-trick in the second leg.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
In the two weeks leading up to tomorrow's match the Club has been inundated with well-wishers and Player/Manager Michael Paton was clearly heartened to see the level of backing behind the Club. He commented, "It's a small taster to these players how much support and belief surrounds the Club. The fans will be bursting just to make some kind of contact with the players - the only communication they've had is through social media. The messages coming through gives it a real personal touch and will help to encourage and motivate the boys going into the game."

Following a hectic league schedule, the players and management team have had a fortnight to prepare for the two matches. He said, "It's been great as that's the first time we've had more than a week to be together as a group on the training ground. It's allowed us to prepare and organise exactly how we want to play going into these two games. The spirits are high - everyone is working so hard in training. They are fighting and competing to be considered for a spot in the starting eleven."

With supporters set to return, albeit with a limited number, Michael said, "That's what it's all about. I'm really looking forward to seeing the home fans back at Brechin and these youngsters will experience this for the first time. Nothing beats the feeling of having that support coming from the side, it'll be like having a twelfth man."

MATCH OFFICIALS
Tomorrow's match referee is Gavin Duncan who will be assisted by Andrew McWilliam and Paul O'Neill. The fourth official in place for this tie is Matthew MacDermid.
