With Brechin City’s season brought to an end on Saturday, Manager Ray McKinnon and coaches Grant and Darren met with the squad at next seasons new training facilities at Stirling University on Monday evening to hold the hardest meeting of all.
As the Manager starts to build his squad for the next season it was time to thank all the players for their efforts and to extend the Club’s best wishes to those that are not being retained. As it stands at present the Manager is to retain 11 players from the current squad, namely;
Jonny Brown, Derek Carcary, Graham Hay, Andy Jackson, Gerry McLauchlan, Paul McLean, Craig Molloy, Ewan Moyes, Craig Nelson, Ben Tough, Alan Trouten.
With the following players moving on;
Michael Andrews, Garry Brady, Gary Fusco, Beau Longbridge, David McKenna, Aaron Murdoch, Alex Pursehouse, Jonny Stewart, Ryan Stewart.
The Management Committee attended the meeting to extend the Clubs thanks to the players for making the 2012/13 season so successful and for acting professionally in all their dealings with the Club.
Manager Ray McKinnon said – ‘The meeting tonight presented the coaches with the hardest task we have had to face to date. No one likes to see players leave a Club especially when all of the players have performed so well for us this season. I have enjoyed working with everyone of the lads and I am truly sorry to see some of them leave us. We have to be true to our beliefs as we try and build a squad that meets our expectations and style of play and to this end changes must be made. I wish to thank the players that are leaving us and I am sure we will see them again as we now enter the football transfer merry go round. ‘
