EGM SUMMARY - By Brechin City FC

An EGM of Brechin City Football Club took place at Glebe Park on Monday evening (31st May) which was attended by well in excess of 100 members.

Two resolutions relating to the incorporation of Brechin City FC were put forward to be voted on by our members. Both of these resolutions were approved with over 90% of those in attendance voting in favour.

As a result the club will proceed with incorporation over the coming weeks and more information will be shared with our supporters in due course.

Six members of the current Management Committee stood down at this meeting, including Chairman Ken Ferguson and Vice-Chairman Martin Smith.

Starting out as Club Photographer and Programme Editor, Ken joined the Management Committee in 1993 and served as Secretary for 15 years before replacing David Birse as Chairman in 2007. Ken was very much a hands-on Chairman, choosing to take on a multitude of tasks himself and also represented Leagues 1 & 2 on the SPFL Board for a number of years.

Vice-Chairman Martin Smith stood down from the committee after 40 years at the Club. Martin was the longest serving member of the Management Committee and was also the longest-serving Treasurer in Scottish Football having originally taken on the role in 1982. A re-shuffle of boardroom duties in 2017 saw him become Vice-Chairman and such is his commitment to the Club, he would often be found at Glebe Park during the week carrying out a variety of tasks. For many years he has been the first person to greet visitors to Glebe Park and will now be seen down the Hedge side supporting his beloved City.

Both men leave with our enormous gratitude for all they have done for the Club.

The club would also like to put on record our thanks to the other departing committee members, Grant Hood, Ian Jardine, Anton Gerlings and Kevan Innes who have all served the club with distinction during their tenure.

It has been confirmed that the Club will play in the Highland League next season and we look forward to being a member of the league and the new challenges it will bring, including travelling to new grounds and welcoming new teams and supporters to Glebe Park.

Finally, all Club matters will be conducted by an interim committee of Kevin Mackie, Grant Johnson, Murray Lindsay, David Taylor, Grant Turriff, Clark Renilson and Arlene Wood until the AGM in July where office bearers will be identified.
