The Management Committee and Coaching Staff of the Club are fully aware of how serious the situation is and could become for our Club. Whilst we have every faith in our Manager and his ability to improve our league position we feel we must be clear with our plans to strengthen the squad in the January window.

Chairman Ken Ferguson said: "We are extremely grateful to all the fans and sponsors who have and continue to support us during this difficult period in our Club’s 113 year history. Football is a cyclical game and having spent quite a few seasons punching above our weight we now find ourselves at the bottom of the cycle trying to claw our way out of danger.

"The finances of the Club allow us to a maintain the current squad on a weekly basis, however our decline through the leagues and current form is obviously not attracting paying fans back through the turnstiles and is having the opposite affect with reduced attendances.

"We have to call it as it is and with the possibility of dropping out of the league a reality we must all now pull together to do everything we can to avoid this happening.

"We need the support of our members and the local community if we want to maintain a senior football team in the town.

"We must ensure we give our Manager the tools he requires to improve the squad for the second half of the season, to this end we are launching a survival fund with the guarantee that any funds raised from this appeal will be divorced from the day to day club accounts and used purely to strengthen the squad."
