A Chris Templeman goal in the 61st minute clinched victory for Forfar in the Angus derby.

The visitors were first to threaten when Templeman headed a Steven Tulloch cross just past Craig Nelson's right-hand post after three minutes.

The Loons were dominating the early stages and they should have opened the scoring in the 21st minute when David Mowatt just failed to connect with a Kevin Byers cross into the City box.

It was one-way traffic towards the City goal and Nelson came to the hosts rescue in the 32nd minute when he brilliantly parried a fierce drive from Nicky Low.

City had been completely out of things and it wasn't until three minutes before the break that they created their first chance when Joe Shaughnessy booted a David McKenna drive clear.

Steve Crawford came close for the visitors nine minutes into the second-half when his 15 yard drive went just past the post.

Forfar though kept pushing foward and they deservedly grabbed the lead in the 61st minute .

Martyn Fotheringham sent over a superb corner from the left staight to Templeman, whose first-time volley soared into the bottom corner of the net.

City tried to hit back and Adam McHugh brought off a great save to deny Derek Carcary in 72nd minute

City were reduced to ten men eight minutes later, having used all of their subs when David McClune had to go off injured and they were dramatically reduced to nine men with five minutes remaining when Carcary was red-carded after he needlessly retaliated after a challenge from Chris Hegarty.
