Bobby Barr netted the only goal of the game as Brechin bounced back from successive defeats with a win at struggling Arbroath.
Scott Morrison kept out Ewan Moyes' header but could not prevent Barr from scoring with a left-footed drive.
Arbroath's Robert Linn fired a good chance over the bar and player-manager Paul Sheerin hit a long-range effort just wide.
But in the end the hosts' winless run to extended to 11 league games.
