Brechin City 4 Annan Athletic 2

Brechin City overcame a spirited Annan Athletic side by 4-2 in last night's fourth round Scottish Cup replay at Glebe Park and will now face an away tie against Falkirk in the next round.

A first-half hat-trick from Andy Jackson appeared to put City on easy street but the visitors fought back and reduced the deficit through Scott Davidson in the 67th minute. City then regained their three-goal advantage with a Colin Hamilton header only for Annan to hit back again with a David Hopkirk goal but City held on for victory and a place in the next round.

City grabbed the opener after just three minutes when a great five-man move ended with Ewan McNeil crossing into the penalty-box for Andy Jackson who powered a header beyond Alex Mitchell in the Annan goal and it was 2-0 seven minutes later when a great Kyle McAusland pass found Jackson who swiftly turned in the box before drilling a low drive into the bottom corner of the net and the tie appeared to be over as a contest just before the half-hour when Alan Trouten delivered a great ball down the line to Bobby Barr who crossed into the box for Jackson who dispatched a low shot past Mitchell to complete his hat-trick.

Annan however came out fighting after the break and Davidson reduced the deficit with a superb strike from just outside the box in the 67th minute only for Hamilton to restore City's three-goal advantage when he headed home a Jamie Masson free-kick in the 71st minute with a David Hopkirk strike from the acutes of angles four minutes later completing the scoring.
