Brechin City continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-0 victory over a young Hearts side at Glebe Park.

The hosts grabbed the lead within the first minute when Ally Love picked up a pass at the edge of the box and quickly played in Alan Trouten who blasted a fierce drive into the roof of the net.

The visitors responded immediately and Andy Irving was unlucky to see his left-foot drive from the edge of the box just miss the target.

City continued to press without creating anything really clear-cut in front of goal but they had a let-off nine minutes before the break when Russell McLean found space on the right and crossed into the box for Rory Currie who poked the ball inches past the post and three minutes later full-back Daniel Baur rifled a left-foot drive just over the bar.

The home side upped the pressure after the break with Mason making a great save from a Love pile-driver in the 52nd minute. The young keeper could do nothing however to prevent City going 2-0 up twelve minutes later when Andy Jackson dived low to power a great header into the bottom corner of the net with substitute Jamie Montgomery adding a third goal from close-range ten minutes later.

City continued to push forward and Trouten was unlucky not to make it 4-0 ten minutes from time when he was denied by a point-blank save from Mason.
