Brechin City 2 Stirling Albion 1
Brechin City won their opening match in the Betfred Cup with a 2-1 victory over Stirling Albion at Glebe Park.
City grabbed the lead in the 13th minute when Ally Love chased a long ball from defence and outpaced the Binos defence to slot the ball last Cammy Binnie.
Marc McKenzie then missed a glorious chance for Albion in the 18th minute when he blasted wide from great position but the visitors deservedly drew level from the penalty-spot seven minutes before the break when Blair Henderson converted after Eddie Ferns had been upended in the box by Gareth Rodger.
Both sides missed decent chances early in the second-half with a Ross Forsyth header coming back off the bar for the Binos whilst a Ross Caldwell volley seconds later for City was just inches wide.
However, City made the vital breakthrough five minutes from time when Love collected the ball wide on the left and flighted a perfect cross into the box for Alan Trouten who volleyed the ball past Binnie.
