Dumbarton have confirmed the signing of Brechin defender Jamie Smith. The big centre half who can also play at full-back has enjoyed a successful stay at Glebe Park, but has decided to move on.

The player, signed from Partick Thistle failed to get a regular place in the team last season and has decided to make a move to The Rock.

Dumbarton manager Paul Martin told their official web site he was delighted to have got his man: We are absolutely delighted to have him".

"Great experienced centre-half who will add more steel to what we have."

The move will perhaps come as no surprise to City fans, having watched City bring in two new defenders in David Craig and Craig McEwan already. With first team opportunities limited as it was, a move seems sensible for all parties.
