MATCH PREVIEW
Both sets of supporters will be eagerly anticipating tomorrow afternoon’s Angus derby between City and the Red Lichties.
While City’s last home fixture against Stenhousemuir fell foul of the weather, Arbroath had a stunning 6-1 win over Albion Rovers at Gayfield with goals from Lee Sibanda, Gavin Swankie (2), Josh Falkingham, Paul Sheerin and new signing Colin Samuel.
City have taken ten points from their last six games and during the month of December, they were unbeaten in the league, and this fine run of form culminated in boss Jim Weir being named as December’s Second Division Manager of the Month by the Scottish Football League this week.
The sides have met twice already this season with the Lichties drawing first blood on 24th September at the Glebe when a late winner from Swankie wrapped up the points but City won a hard-earned point at Gayfield at the beginning of December when Paul McManus scored in the last minute of the match.
City will be going all out for victory against their near neighbours and the stage is set for what promises to be an intriguing contest.
City manager Jim Weir will still be without Derek Carcary and there remains a concern over defender Gerry McGlauchlan. Bryan Hodge and Jim Lister have recovered from their respective injuries and will come into consideration.
The manager also announced that striker Graham Weir has left the club and it’s understood that he’ll be signing for fellow Second Division side Stirling Albion.
Arbroath player-boss Paul Sheerin will be without goalkeeper Michael White and ex Dundee United youth striker Jordan Elfverson.
