Brechin City's Under 19 team's long journey to Greenock ended in a 2-0 defeat this afternoon.

Morton got off to the perfect start and scored the opening goal after just three and a half minutes play but City had a chance to equalise shortly afterwards but Marc Walker fired over the bar.

City kept plugging away but fell further behind later in the half.

After the break, City had the bulk of pressure but an injury to striker Charlie Fertacz meant that they had to change things around. Even allowing for this, they still had the lion's share of possession and despite creating a number of goal-scoring opportunities, the team just couldn't finish and Morton ran out 2-0 winners.
