BRECHIN CITY UNDER 19’s 1 DUNDEE UNDER 19’s 5

Dundee’s Under 19 side completed a comfortable 5-1 victory over their Brechin City counterparts in an entertaining game at Glebe Park last night.

The Dark Blue youngsters raced into a three-goal lead within the opening 20 minutes.

The first goal came after only six minutes when Connor McLeod outpaced the City defence on the left side of the park and crossed into the box for Cammy Kerr who blasted the ball home from close-range.

The Dens Park side kept up the pressure and they doubled their lead eleven minutes later with a similar move.

The ball was played from defence to full-back Frank Lannen in a wide left position and he raced to the touchline before delivering a great cross into the box for Greg Birmingham who powered a header into the net.

Dundee were well on top and they made it 3-0 just three minutes later.

A long ball from defence was collected by Connor McLeod who ran forward into the City penalty-box and drew out keeper Ben Tough before slotting a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The Dark Blues picked up from where they left off at the beginning of the second-half and they scored a further goal to underline their superiority in the 51st minute when midfielder Rori Bens lobbed City keeper Tough from just inside the box.

City, although four goals down, kept battling and they reduced the deficit through Connor Gray with fifteen minutes remaining but the visitors rubbed salt into the City wounds shortly afterwards when they restored their four goal advantage when substitute Lee Cameron had the simple task of tapping the ball home after Tough had parried a Birmingham shot into his path.
