STENHOUSEMUIR PREVIEW
Brechin manager Jim Weir takes his side to Ochilview for the second time in two weeks and will be hoping for a different conclusion this time round after City’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Stenny in the first round of the Scottish Communities League Cup on 4th August.
A goal after only 40 seconds from John Gemmell in that game immediately put City on the back-foot but they were competing well in the match until a disastrous fifteen minute spell in the last third of the game when goals from Darren Smith (2) and Stewart Kean wrapped up victory for the Warriors.
The manager watched tomorrow’s opponents in action on Tuesday night against Annan Athletic in the Ramsdens Cup when goals from Kean, Sean Dickson and Andy Rodgers saw them progress comfortably to the next round and he will be under no illusion as to the difficult task facing his players tomorrow.
However, City fans will be encouraged by their team’s 1-0 victory against Albion Rovers last Saturday when a 16th minute goal from Andy Jackson was enough to clinch the first league points of the season but in reality the final score-line should and could have been much more emphatic if the team had taken the chances that their came their way, something that they will have to ensure they do tomorrow if they are to achieve a good result.
The manager has so far been unsuccessful in his attempts to add to the squad so it looks as if he’ll be heading to Ochilview with the same sixteen players who were in the squad last Saturday.
Derek Carcary and Alan Trouten remain side-lined through injury but Ryan Stewart managed to train this week and should be available for selection if required.
Warriors manager Martin Corrigan has everyone available apart from ex Dundee midfielder Eric Paton who is still recovering from injury.
