AYR UNITED V BRECHIN CITY MATCH PREVIEW
City make the long trip south to Ayr tomorrow with two new squad additions.
With Gerry McGlauchlan, Craig Molloy, Derek Carcary and Ryan Stewart all still missing, manager Jim Weir has added striker Kurtis Byrne from Ross County and defender Paul Fisher from Kilmarnock to the squad.
Byrne is the son of former Celtic player Paul Byrne and he made his professional debut for Hibs in a League Cup tie against City way back on the 26th August 2009.
He then went on loan to East Fife in the early part of the 2010/11 season, scoring a hat-trick for the Fifers in his fourth game for them. A further loan spell at Alloa Athletic followed before Derek Adams who knew him well from his days as assistant manager at Easter Road signed him for County when he returned as manager to Victoria Park.
Fisher was promoted to the Killie senior squad at the beginning of the season after a successful period with the under 20’s at Rugby Park and he will no doubt know quite a bit about the set-up at the Glebe from former City loan player Rory McKenzie who had a successful loan period here last season.
City will be hoping that both players can help them to their first league win since 28th August when two early goals from Andy Jackson were enough to earn them full points against current basement club East Fife.
Since that game, City have suffered successive defeats to Alloa Athletic (home), Forfar Athletic (away) and Queen of the South (home), scoring one goal and conceding seven so the players will be desperate to make sure that the trend doesn’t continue at Somerset Park.
The hosts picked up their first points of the season last Saturday against East Fife at Bayview Park when goals from David Sinclair (2) and Kyle McAusland wrapped up victory and they will be as eager as City to take full points tomorrow.
Manager Mark Roberts will be without defender Martyn Campbell and midfielders Anthony Marenghi and Michael McGowan.
Admission Prices for tomorrow are : -
Main Stand - Adults - £15, Concessions - £8
Ground & Enclosure - As Above.
The Match Referee is Paul Robertson who was in charge when City last won, against East Fife at the end of August so let's hope that's a good omen for tomorrow.
