Brechin City - Stranraer Match Preview
A new, and eagerly anticipated chapter opens at the Glebe tomorrow as Ray McKinnon takes the reigns for his first game in charge of Brechin City.
Ray is eagerly looking forward to the match against bottom club Stranraer.
" I can't wait to get started," he said.
" Stranraer, like ourselves are battling hard to get away from the bottom end of the table and I've no doubt that they will prove to be very difficult opponents."
" We've gathered a lot of information on them and know the dangers they pose but the most important thing is that we play to our full potential and work hard to try and achieve three vital league points."
" I've had a fantastic response from the players in training since my appointment and if they can take the same attitude, hard work and endeavour into Saturday's match then I won't be disappointed."
Ray will welcome back Craig Molloy into the City squad but a doubt remains over centre-back Gerry McGlauchlan who the manager reckons has no more than a 50-50 chance of playing while midfielder Ryan Stewart will remain sidelined for some time yet.
The Blues will be without experienced defender David McGregor for the long trip north to Glebe Park.
Statistically, there would seem to be very little difference between the sides. Stranraer have had one solitary league victory which was against Ayr United at Stair Park on 1st September when a brace from Craig Malcolm secured the points, while City have managed two home wins against Albion Rovers (1-0) and East Fife (2-1) with Andy Jackson on the mark in both games. City have a goal difference of -11 while tomorrow's opponents are one worse off at -12.
City played a bit better in their last game at Arbroath before going down by 3-1 while Stranraer's last match ended in a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of league leaders Queen of the South.
Tomorrow's Match Referee will be Kevin Graham from Ayrshire. His assistants will be Gary Cheyne and Martin Kerrigan.
The club's Main Sponsors, Delson, will be sponsoring tomorrow's match with the Brechin City Supporters Club sponsoring the Match Ball.
