Brechin City-Ayr United Preview - By John Hoey

BRECHIN CITY – AYR UNITED MATCH PREVIEW

Brechin City players will be on a high following their derby win at Gayfield on Saturday and will be looking forward to the visit of Ayr United to Glebe Park tomorrow night.

The Honest Men will come to Glebe Park hoping to build upon an excellent 5-2 home victory against basement club Albion Rovers on Saturday. The highlight of that game was a brace from defender Michael Donald and a hat-trick from striker Michael Moffat who was also on the mark in the only meeting between the clubs this season when Ayr won comfortably by 3-0 at Somerset Park in what proved to be former manager Jim Weir’s last game in charge of the club. The hosts were reduced to ten men early on when defender Austin McCann was sent-off for deliberate hand-ball but keeper Ally Brown saved Andy Jackson’s spot-kick and this spurred the side to go on and grab the lead through Moffat in the 26th minute. Two further goals early in the second-half sealed the win for Ayr.

City boss Ray McKinnon will be without midfielder Craig Molloy who will be out for the rest of the season while full-back Johnny Brown will also still be missing as he awaits a scan on his injured ankle.

Ayr boss Mark Roberts will be missing John Robertson and Michael McGowan for the trip to the Glebe.

Tomorrow night’s Match Referee will be Ayrshire ref Kevin Graham who will be taking charge for his second Brechin City match of the season, the first one being the 3-0 home victory over Stranraer on 20th October which was Ray McKinnon’s debut as the new City boss.
