Brechin City-Forfar Preview - By John Hoey

BRECHIN CITY – FORFAR ATHLETIC MATCH PREVIEW

Tomorrow sees the final Brechin-Forfar game of the season and the score at the moment stands as two wins for Brechin and one win for Forfar.

Both sides enter the game on the back of victories. The Loons won 3-1 at home against Stranraer last Saturday with Gavin Malin Omar Kader and former City striker Chris Templeman scoring the all- important goals while City had a fine win at Somerset Park on Tuesday night with defenders Ewan Moyes and Graham Hay scoring either side of Liam Buchanan’s goal for the Honest Men.

As things stand, City sit four points in front of their Angus neighbours having played four games less. Victory for the hosts would see them extend that lead to seven points while a win for the Loons would see the gap narrowed to just one, so there is everything to play for for both sides.

City boss Ray McKinnon will wait for fitness reports on defender Ewan Moyes and midfielder Alan Trouten before naming his side. Moysee’s ankle injury is not as bad as first feared although he must be considered as doubtful for tomorrow while Trouts is in the same category after pulling his hamstring in the pre-match warm-up at Somerset Park. On a positive note Gary Fusco returns to the squad after serving his one-match suspension after his double yellow cards at Stenhousemuir last Saturday.

Forfar boss Dick Campbell will still be without midfielder Keith Gibson and goalkeeper Derek Soutar is also side-lined. In addition, defender Michael Bolochoweckyj will be serving the first game of his two-match suspension after his ordering-off against Stranraer last Saturday.

The first game of the season between the sides took place at Station Park last September and a Martyn Fotheringham goal after 22 minutes was all that separated the sides on that occasion. The next couple of games between the sides both ended in 4-1 victories for City.

On 24th November at Glebe Park, a brace from Andy Jackson and goals from Johnny Brown and Kurtis Byrne (pen) were more than enough to clinch victory for City with Ross Campbell scoring a consolation for Forfar and on 2nd January at Station Park, goals from David McKenna, Johnny Brown and Derek Carcary put City into an unassailable 3-0 lead and although the Loons pulled a goal back through Gavin Swankie with ten minutes remaining, a further goal from Scott Dalziel a minute later sealed an impressive victory for City.
