Brechin City-Ayr United Preview - By John Hoey

BRECHIN CITY V AYR UNITED MATCH PREVIEW

Brechin City and Ayr United will face each other at Station Park tomorrow for the fourth and final time this season.

As things stand, Brechin have won two of the meetings between the clubs while Ayr drew first blood way back in September at Somerset Park.

City boss Ray McKinnon will be without Craig Molloy who recently went through an operation and full-back Johnny Brown who is going into hospital for a scan on his injured ankle which has been plagued him for much of the season.

Ayr player-boss Mark Roberts welcomes back midfielder Robbie Crawford but has doubts about Kyle McAusland and David Sinclair while Adam Hunter is suspended.

The first meeting between the clubs this season took place at Somerset Park on 29th September when Ayr sauntered home to an easy 3-0 victory in Jim Weir’s last game in charge with Sinclair, Michael Moffat and Marc Twaddle scoring the goals.

The next game between the sides was on Tuesday 19th February at Glebe Park. Gerry McGlauchlan headed home the opener for City five minutes before the break and although Ayr equalised through a Ewan Moyes own-goal eleven minutes into the second-half, a further goal from big Gerry three minutes later secured the points for City.

The sides faced each other again at Somerset Park a fortnight later when Moysee made amends for his own-goal in the previous game by firing home the opening goal from close-range after 25 minutes and although Ayr equalised through Liam Buchanan in the 50th minute, a header from Graham Hay with quarter of an hour remaining set City on the road to victory.

Tomorrow’s game is sure to be highly competitive with City desperate to clinch all three points in an effort to secure a play-off position. However, Ayr also have play-off ambitions and they’ll be equally keen to secure a victory.
