BRECHIN CITY – ALBION ROVERS MATCH PREVIEW
City face Albion Rovers at Glebe Park tomorrow night in the first game of a double-header against the Coatbridge club and a win for Ray McKinnon’s men would see them clinch the play-off spot that they have been striving for since the beginning of the league campaign way back in August.
If City win tomorrow night, Forfar could still theoretically catch them but the goal difference between the two clubs is hugely in City’s favour and if their Angus neighbours were to match City’s points total it would require them to win all of their remaining league games and for City to lose all of their four remaining matches – possible certainly, but on the face of it highly unlikely.
So the management and players will be hoping that a big home crowd are at the Glebe tomorrow night to urge the players on and to offer them real encouragement as they go about their task.
Graham Hay who came off injured on Saturday should be ok for tomorrow night, and Johnny Brown who played the whole of the second-half should also be able to play if required. Alan Trouten will return to the squad after serving his one-match suspension. However, Derek Carcary and Gareth Rodger remain side-lined while Craig Molloy won’t be ready for action until the beginning of next season.
The two previouse meetings between the sides have both ended in City victories.
On 11th August, at the Glebe, an Andy Jackson goal after quarter of an hour was the difference between the sides and at Cliftonhill on 20th November, goals from Jackson and Derek Carcary were enough to secure victory after Albion had opened the scoring.
Rovers are still battling hard to avoid finishing bottom of the table and automatic relegation so they’ll be giving it 150% tomorrow night in an effort to draw closer to second-bottom East Fife who currently sit seven points ahead.
