Brechin-Stranraer Preview - By John Hoey

BRECHIN CITY – STRANRAER MATCH PREVIEW

Brechin City will be hoping to bounce right back from the disappointment of Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Albion Rovers when Stranraer come calling at the Glebe tomorrow night.

City look destined to be in the First Division play-offs come the end of the season as Forfar Athletic, who currently sit in fifth position in the table have a vastly inferior goal difference and would only be able to match City on points if they win their remaining two matches, assuming that City fail to pick up any points from their remaining four games ! Arbroath can certainly just overtake City on points but again, this also assumes that they win their remaining two games and City lose all of their remaining games, so I think it’s fairly safe to assume we’re there and a huge thank you is due to manager Ray McKinnon and his coaching staff and all of the players for their huge efforts throughout the season but particularly over the course of the last few weeks when two games a week has been the norm which must have been a big strain on the players in terms of travelling, getting time off work and match preparation etc.

However, there are still four games left starting with the visit of the Blues tomorrow night and the injury situation at Glebe Park remains the same.

Ewan Moyes, Gareth Rodger, Craig Molloy and Derek Carcary are all out while Michael Andrews will be suspended following his last-minute sending-off against Albion on Saturday.

Stranraer manager Stephen Aitken will be without defender David McGregor who is injured while midfielder Ryan Borris is suspended.

The last ten results for both sides are : -

Brechin City – WWWLLWLLWL

Stranraer – WDLWLLWDLL

The Match Referee tomorrow night will be Stephen Finnie who will be refereeing his first Brechin City match of the season.

The Match Sponsor is Brechin Bowling Club who are also sponsoring the Match Ball.
