STRANRAER – BRECHIN CITY MATCH PREVIEW
Brechin City will embark on the long journey south west early tomorrow morning to meet Stranraer in the first round of the Scottish League Cup.
City will be hoping to bounce right back from the disappointment of their opening day first round Ramsdens Cup defeat up at Peterhead and they will be facing a team who will be on a high following a 4-2 home victory over Dumbarton in the same competition last Saturday.
Manager Ray McKinnon will be without central defender Gerry McGlauchlan who is suspended for this match while striker Ryan Donnelly has still not recovered from injury. However, both Ewan Moyes and Johnny Brown came through Tuesday night’s friendly against Lochee United unscathed and the manager will have plenty of cover for central defence.
Stranraer boss Stevie Aitken includes former City players David McKenna and Mark Docherty in his squad.
The referee tomorrow afternoon will be Kevin Graham.
Supporters Information
According to the Scottish Football Ground Guide, Stair Park is only a five minute walk away from the town centre where there are plenty of places to have a meal, snack and/or a drink. The Guide highly recommends the Stranraer FC Social Club in North Strand Street which it states “ gives supporters a friendly reception.”
For those hardy enough to travel by car, the post code for satellite navigation systems is DG9 8BS and there is ample free parking within the vicinity of the ground. However, the Brechin City Supporters Club is offering a fantastic deal for those who want to give their bus a try (£10 for members and £12 for non-members)
The bus will be leaving St Ninians Square at 9.00am and seats are still available. To book your place, please contact Steven Stewart on 07547552209.
