Ray On Rangers Game
Brechin manager Ray McKinnon spoke to the press after yesterday's match at Ibrox and the following is a summary of what he had to say.
" The players thought that the penalty decision was very, very soft and consequently we lost Paul McLean as a result. It was certainly a game-changer at that moment as I thought the Rangers players at that point were quite nervous and it enabled us to have a go which I was really pleased about."
" However, going down to ten men killed us off at that point and it swung things back in Rangers favour and they killed us off with a great goal. "
" The idea was to come here today in what was a big occasion for the players and try to be quite compact. We knew Rangers would come at us right from the off but to lose a goal after a minute and a half threw our game-plan out of the window but all credit to Rangers in the first-half as they were outstanding.
Jon Daly might have had another couple of goals during the opening 45 minutes but I thought that Graeme Smith was superb in goal for us. "
" It was a different story in the second-half until the 80th minute. Rangers didn't have that swagger that they showed in the first-half and we went for it and made Rangers play more of a long ball, but the penalty decision killed us. "
" However, at the end of the day, you can't grudge Rangers their victory. They're a quality side and were the better team today by far. "
