Arbroath - Brechin City Match Preview
Brechin City make the short trip to Gayfield tomorrow afternoon hoping that they can make it two derby wins out of two after their victory over Forfar last Saturday. In fact, if they manage to beat the Red Lichties, it will be three wins on the trot for Ray McKinnon's men and that would certainly be a fantastic result before the international break next weekend.
The City manager will go into tomorrow's fixture without Derek Carcary who remains side-lined after limping off in the first-half against East Fife a fortnight ago. Steven Robb who came off after just 27 minutes in the Forfar game is rated as doubtful as is central defender Ewan Moyes.
Arbroath will be without the suspended Colin Hamilton while Alex Keddie, Ricky Little, Connor Birse and Alan Cook will also be missing due to injury. In addition, former City midfielder Darren Smith is rated as doubtful owing to illness.
The Lichties have had a mixed bag of results since the season began. They lost their first round Challenge Cup game against Stenhousemuir at Ochilview 3-2 on penalties after the sides were level 4-4 after extra-time and they were also first round casualties in the League Cup going down by 1-0 against Montrose at home. As far as league form goes, they were defeated 3-0 at home by Ayr on the opening day of the league season but came right back the following week to defeat Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park by 3-2 but they were defeated on their second successive visit to Fife last Saturday when East Fife were 2-1 victors.
The Match Referee tomorrow afternoon will be Kevin Graham.
