Brechin City - Stranraer Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Stranraer Match Preview

Brechin City will be hoping that they start from where they left off last Saturday when Stranraer come calling at the Glebe tomorrow afternoon.

In the last couple of games against Dunfermline and Ayr, the City players have had to come from behind to grab what was in both games a deserved share of the spoils and they will be determined to make sure that they start the game well and hopefully grab and maintain an early lead against the Blues.

Manager Ray McKinnon will be without centre-back Graham Hay who begins a two-game suspension tomorrow and Derek Carcary will also still be missing. Ray also has slight doubts about a couple of unnamed players but is confident that they will recover in time for the match.

Stranraer manager Stephen Aitken was delighted with the attitude shown by his side in their 5-3 Scottish League Cup defeat at Hibernian in midweek and he'll be hoping for a repeat of that form tomorrow. He has no injury worries apart from midfielder Sean Winter who also missed out in the Hibs match.

The last five matches between the sides have ended in two wins for City and two for Stranraer with one draw, with the most recent game taking place on 3rd August at Stair Park when the Blues ran out 4-3 winners in the first round of the League Cup after being 4-0 ahead at one stage, so City will be eager to redress the balance tomorrow.

The Match Referee will be Crawford Allan.

The game will be sponsored by Murray Beith Murray while Brechin Castle Garden Centre will be sponsoring the Match Ball.

Tomorrow's Brechin City mascots will be brothers Jacob Hastie (10) and Marcus Hastie (7) who come from Newtonhill. Their favourite City players are Andy Jackson and Bobby Barr respectively.
