East Fife - Brechin City Match Preview
Brechin City will make the short journey across the River Tay for tomorrow's penultimate league game of the season against East Fife at Bayview Stadium.
City, who secured their League One status last weekend with that hard-fought 2-1 victory against Stranraer are likely to be without centre-back Gerry McLauchlan who had to come off after just 24 minutes against the Blues. Gerry has been unable to train this week and must be rated extremely doubtful for tomorrow but manager Ray McKinnon has ready-made replacements in the shape of Steven Jackson who deputised for Gerry at Stair Park along with Ewan Moyes and Garry Kenneth.
Bobby Barr will also miss the game against his old club as he will be serving a one-match suspension.
East Fife boss Gary Naysmith will be without midfielders Ross Brown and Gary Fisher for tomorrow's clash.
The games between the sides this have all gone in City's favour with two wins at the Glebe and a victory at Bayview in December.
Goals from former striker Ryan Donnelly and Alan Trouten wrapped up victory for City in the first league game between the teams at Glebe Park in August and in the corresponding fixture at Bayview in December, Andy Jackson, Bobby Barr and Derek Carcary were on the mark while ex City striker Ryan Stewart scored the Fifers' goal.
The last game between the sides took place at Glebe Lark back in February when goals from Barr, Jackson and Thomson sealed a fine City win.
Despite the fact that City have still to lose to the Fifers this season, the City players will be under no illusion as how difficult their task will be tomorrow with East Fife fighting hard to retain their League One status with just two games remaining.
The referee for tomorrow's match is experienced whistler Iain Brines who will be handling his first City game of the season.
