From Glebe Park to Latvia

Brechin City FC
Brechin City play host to Aberdeen next week, in a match which must surely be amongst the earliest pre-season friendlies The Club has played.
The Dons only lost out to a Scottish Premiership runners-up spot courtesy of an injury time goal by Motherwell in the final game of last season. The knock-on effect of this is an earlier than usual start to the new season for the Pittodrie outfit, as they enter the Europa Cup on 3rd July against Latvian club FK Daugava Riga. This in turn has brought the Glebe Park clash forward too, taking place on Wednesday 25th June, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
There’s good news for the Glebe Park faithful too, as once again season ticket holders are prioritised for this match. A spokesman for The Club said, “City’s Season Ticket sales are often triggered by the first home friendly – but with this match scheduled much earlier than usual The Management Committee has agreed that 2013/14 season tickets will be valid for this match. Fans who may have already disposed of their previous ticket needn’t worry, as we retain lists of Season Ticket buyers, so these individuals should turn up at the Season Ticket gate as normal.”
Following a successful season, including a memorable League Cup win, a sizeable support is expected from the granite city. Gate entry prices for this match are:
- Parent & Child: £10 (plus £2 for each additional child)
- Adults: £8
- Concessions: £4
The 1983 Hospitality Lounge will be open for this match, with entry costing only £5. Pre-booking is recommended, and supporters are encouraged to reserve places by e-mailing ghood@brechincityfc.com or by calling The Club’s Commercial Line on 07817 910548.
Other pre-season matches confirmed at present are –
v. Montrose (Saturday 5th July)
v. Dundee (Wednesday 16th July)
v. Alloa Athletic (Saturday 19th July) – with Alloa’s visit being a closed-door match
The season kicks off for real on Saturday 26th July with the First Round of the Challenge Cup and City await the draw for this to see who The Club is paired with.
