Brechin City v Peterhead
Petrofac Training Cup 2nd Round - Match Preview
Brechin City will go into tomorrow night's second round Petrofac Training Cup match against North East rivals Peterhead with a full-strength squad after Saturday's 1-0 victory over Stenhousemuir brought no fresh injuries while Blue Toon midfielder Fraser McLaren will be the only absentee from Jim McInally's squad for the match.
City reached the second round of the tournament after that excellent extra-time away win at Cowdenbeath with Robert Thomson, Alan Trouten and Ryan Ferguson scoring the goals while Peterhead booked their place in the second round courtesy of a 3-0 win over Angus neighbours Montrose at Links Park with Andy Rodgers, former City striker Rory McAllister and James Stevenson on the mark.
The Blue Toon's opening league game against fellow league one newcomers Stirling Albion ended 1-1 with a goal from McAllister five minutes from time rescuing a point after the Binos had opened the scoring through Gordon Smith and they gained their first win on Saturday after a 2-0 victory over ten-man Airdrie at Excelsior Stadium with David Cox and Rodgers, on the mark. City of course started their league campaign with that excellent 0-0 draw at Dunfermline and followed that up with a 1-0 victory over Stenhousemuir on Saturday past, Alan Trouten's superb lob a couple of minutes before half-time proving to be the winner.
