Brechin City - Forfar Athletic Match Preview
Brechin City will be looking to make it four wins on the trot following consecutive victories over Ayr United, Stenhousemuir and Stirling Albion when league leaders and near neighbours Forfar Athletic come calling at the Glebe tomorrow afternoon.
City have no fresh injuries following their win against the Binos on Tuesday night. Midfielder Callum Tapping remains side-lined as does Kyle McAusland who suffered a broken hand in a freak accident during the closed-door game against Montrose just over a week ago while full-back Colin Hamilton who has been an ever-present in the City side this season is suspended following his dismissal on Tuesday night. Paul McLean, an 'inspired substitution' on Tuesday, scoring with his first touch of the ball, would look to be the odds on replacement for Hamilton at left-back and while it was fantastic to see both Craig Molloy and Alan Trouten participate in the latter stages of Tuesday night's match it remains to be seen whether or not they will be in the starting line-up as both players are still some way short of full match fitness.
Forfar have received justifiably rave reviews this season and lead the League One table on merit although manager Dick Campbell would have been disappointed to lose the last two games against Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup a couple of weeks back and Morton in the league down at Cappielow last Saturday. There's absolutely no doubt that the Station Park boss will have his men really fired up for tomorrow's clash and fresh in their mind of course will be their victory over City earlier in the campaign at Station Park when they emerged victorious by 3-1 a result the City players will be determined to overturn. Jim Paterson will miss out for the Loons following his sending-off against Morton and there will be a late check on fellow full-back Mark Baxter.
The referee for tomorrow's game is Alan Newlands while the match will be sponsored by Ferguson Oliver Wealth Management. Hospitality guests from Consett Rugby Club are sponsoring the match ball and the Matchday Magazine will be sponsored by Angus Suicide Prevention Collaborative. There will also be an official bucket collection on behalf of BRAVO Brechin.
