Hamilton v Brechin Preview
- By
Steven Mew
Brechin travel to New Douglas Park on Saturday to take on Hamilton in the Bell's 1st Division, which will mark the start of the 2nd quarter of the campaign.
City are still looking for a win in the league, after losing 3-1 to St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. Meanwhile, Hamilton have enjoyed a decent start to the season. The Accies currently sit 3rd in the table, just one point behind Ross County and two behind league leaders St Mirren, whom they beat three weeks ago at New Douglas Park.
Not only are Hamilton progressing well in the league, but they have also made the final of the Bell's Cup after overcoming Dumbarton, Ross County, Dundee and St Johnstone. Accies will now face St Mirren in the final, which is to be hosted at Airdrie United's Excelsior Stadium, despite fans protests.
Earlier in the season, City and Hamilton clashed in the first league game of the season, and City were cruelly denied at least a share of the points that day as Lee Hardy's stoppage time winner for Accies gave them a fortunate three points after Grant Johnson's superbly struck effort cancelled out John Robertson's well created opener.
At least of few of last Saturday's injuries should clear up in time for this match, but City will most definately be without long term absentees Craig McEwan and Alex Burns, who was taken off last Saturday at McDiarmid Park with torn ankle ligaments and should be out for around four weeks.
Away supporters are normally housed in the North Stand behind the goal, but with an expected small away support City fans may be allocated a section of the West Stand instead. Prices are £14.00 for adults and £6 for juveniles and OAP's. The match programme, entitled "Academia" will be provided free of charge at the turnstyles.
