Brechin City - Airdrieonians Match Preview
Brechin City manager Ray McKinnon has virtually a full-strength squad from which to choose his team for the visit of Airdrieonians tomorrow afternoon.
Only long-term injury victim Callum Tapping remains unavailable and the manager for the second week in succession has the luxury of a fully fit squad (Tapping excepted) at his disposal.
City will enter the game on the back of an impressive six-game unbeaten run and obviously everyone will be hoping that this continues against the Diamonds. The players will be determined to enter next Tuesday night's Scottish Cup replay against Annan Athletic with another home win under their belts but clearly, it will be far from easy against a team who ran out easy 4-0 winners in the only previous game this season between the sides. It was an uncharacteristic performance from the City players that afternoon and one they will be completely focussed on overturning tomorrow
Airdrie boss and former City player Gary Bollan will welcome back defenders Paddy Boyle and Ben Richards Everton back into his squad and he will be hoping that his players bounce back from single goal defeats in their last two matches against Stranraer and Morton respectively.
The Match Referee will be Des Roache who will be handling his second City game of the season, the previous match being the 1-1 draw against Peterhead on 30th August.
The Match and Match Ball is being sponsored by Murray Beith Murray from Edinburgh and the Club is once again delighted to welcome John Scott Moncrieff and his guests to Glebe Park.
As previously highlighted on the Club Website, pitch covers have been laid out as a precaution. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone who is able to lend a hand to remove them could come along to The Glebe at 8.30am on Saturday morning.
There will be a mixed team photograph before the game to commemorate the World War One Christmas Truce football matches of one hundred year ago and supporters should also note that there will be a minute's silence just before kick-off as a mark of respect for former club physiotherapist Tommy Gilmartin who very sadly passed away last week.
