Forfar - Brechin Match Preview - By John Hoey

Forfar Athletic - Brechin City Match Preview.

Brechin City will make the short journey to Station Park tomorrow afternoon to face Forfar Athletic in the first derby of the New Year.

Supporters from both clubs will be eagerly anticipating tomorrow's encounter particularly after the previous match between the sides at the Glebe in mid November saw them share six goals in one of the best derbies in recent years. First-half goals from Andy Jackson and Bobby Barr saw City grab an early two goal lead with Omar Kader narrowing the deficit five minutes before half-time. The Loons however staged a tremendous fight-back after the break with goals from Gavin Swankie and Chris Templeman and they looked to be heading for victory until a late Alan Trouten leveller saw City rescue a deserved point.

Both sides were inactive last weekend with City's home game against Dunfermline and Forfar's away fixture at Peterhead both falling foul of the weather. The City players trained this morning at Alloa and manager Ray McKinnon will again have a full squad at his disposal with long-term injury victim Callum Tapping the only absentee.

Loons manager Dick Campbell also has everyone available although the game may come too early for experienced midfielder Derek Young who has missed much of the season so far due to injury.

With City entering the game on the back of an impressive ten game unbeaten run and the Loons undefeated at Station Park this season, a highly competitive and keenly contested encounter would look to be on the cards so let's hope that the derby lives up to expectations and supporters enjoy the occasion.

The referee will be Colin Steven, who has been in charge of just one City game this season, the 2-1 victory over Stenhousemuir at Ochilview at the beginning of November.

Admission prices at Station Park are :-

Adults - £13 Stand, £12 Ground with concessions at £7/£6 respectively.

Forfar Athletic's 1984 Lounge will be open to welcome the supporters of both sides from 12.30pm onwards and immediately after the final whistle.
