Brechin City - Stenhousemuir Match Preview
Brechin City will be hoping to keep their fantastic run of league form going when Stenhousemuir come calling at the Glebe tomorrow afternoon.
The supporters will still be on a high following Tuesday night's terrific 1-0 victory at Dunfermline and the players will be absolutely determined to pick up another three vital league points against the Warriors.
Manager Ray McKinnon has a few injury worries ahead of tomorrow's match.
" A few of the lads picked up knocks on Tuesday night and are struggling to be fit for tomorrow," he said. " However, we'll give them every opportunity to prove their fitness right up until just before kick-off and hopefully most, if not all will be in the starting line-up."
Ray was really delighted with the way his players performed on Tuesday night and feels that the title race is wide open.
" It was a fantastic result for us on Tuesday night especially considering how important the match was from Dunfermline's point of view," he said.
" The players worked their socks off and gave everything and I was really delighted for them at the final whistle. The league race is wide open with seven teams all in contention for the play-offs but as far as we're concerned we'll continue to try and get as many points on the board as we possibly can between now and the end of the season and see where it takes us."
City have a very good record against the men from Ochilview with two league victories and one Scottish Cup win under their belts.
In the first league encounter at the Glebe on 16th August, an Alan Trouten goal two minutes before half-time was enough to ensure three points and in the Scottish Cup encounter at Ochilview at the beginning of November, two second-half goals from Kyle McAusland and Bobby Barr from the penalty-spot put City in the hat for the following round after the hosts had grabbed a first-half advantage with a Darren McCormack own-goal. City again proved victorious at Ochilview the following month when a Trouten penalty and a goal right at the death from substitute Robert Thomson wrapped up three points.
The referee for tomorrow afternoon's match is experienced whistler George Salmond who has taken charge of two City matches so far this season, the aforementioned clash with Stenhousemuir on 16th August and the 1-1 draw up at Peterhead in November.
Tomorrow's match is being sponsored by A.J. Allan (Potato Merchants) Ltd while Ian Jardine is sponsoring the Match Ball. Tomorrow's mascot is seven year old Luke Kennedy from Dundee. He attends Blackness Primary School and plays football for Riverside CSC. His favourite City player is Club Captain Craig 'Tiger' Molloy.
