Peterhead - Brechin City Match Preview - By John Hoey

Peterhead - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will head north to Peterhead tomorrow hoping to create a new club record.

If Ray McKinnon's men are unbeaten come 4.45pm tomorrow night then they will go into the club record books as having gone eighteen league games without defeat something no other City side over the years has managed to achieve.

City will be going all out for victory tomorrow in an effort to keep the pressure on Forfar Athletic, Stranraer and Morton and with only four points separating the top four teams every point is vital.

Their opponents will enter the game on the back of a fine 3-2 victory over Forfar on Tuesday night and they will go into the match determined to take maximum points to keep their play-off hopes alive.

City will be without Paul McLean and skipper Craig Molloy who are both suspended with Ewan McNeil and Gary Fusco the most likely replacements. Everyone else is fit and raring to go against Jim McInally's side.

The teams have met on three occasions this season with City yet to record a victory.

In the first encounter, a Petrofac Cup second round cup-tie, at the Glebe on 19th August, a goal from former City midfielder Jamie Redman after just eight minutes gave the visitors a 1-0 half-time lead and a further goal from Steven Noble early in the first-half wrapped up the points.

It was all square in the following match played just a fortnight later with Paul McLean grabbing the opener for City four minutes into the second-half only for Jordon Brown to level the scores with four minutes remaining and it was a repeat pattern at Balmoor Stadium on 22nd November when Alan Trouten opened the scoring early in the second-half only for Bryan Gilfillan to equalise two minutes from the end.

The referee tomorrow will be Brian Colvin, who will be taking charge of his first Brechin City match of the season.

As usual, the Brechin City Supporters Club will be running a bus to the match which will depart from St Ninians Square at 10.30am. Steven Stewart (07545552209) is the man to contact to book your seat.

Admission Prices at Balmoor Stadium are :-

Stand - Adults - £14, Concessions - £8
Ground - Adults - £12, Concessions - £6

(All admission is by Ticket only, with tickets available from the Ticket Office at the front of the Main Stand).

The Social Club will also be open to both sets of supporters for drinks and refreshments with stovies being served at a cost of 50p.
