Brechin City - Peterhead Match Preview
Brechin City will,be looking to bounce right back from the disappointment of Saturday's defeat against Forfar Athletic when Peterhead come calling at the Glebe tomorrow night.
Manager Ray McKinnon will welcome back Colin Hamilton who missed Saturday's game because of suspension but Alan Trouten remains on the injured list and youngster Craig Storie will also miss out as he has travelled to Austria with the Scotland Under 19 squad where they will play three matches in the Elite round of the European Championships. Calum Tapping who came on for the last twenty minutes or so against the Loons and did really well during that period and although he is someway short of full match fitness it would be no surprise if Ray gives him another runout at some stage of tomorrow night's match.
City have still to record a victory against the Blue Toon this season and they'll be very determined to change the pattern and collect three vital league points.
The four previous games between the sides have brought two score-draws and two Peterhead victories.
In the first encounter, a Petrofac Cup second round cup-tie, at the Glebe on 19th August, a goal from former City midfielder Jamie Redman after just eight minutes gave the visitors a 1-0 half-time lead and a further goal from Steven Noble early in the first-half wrapped up the points.
It was all square in the following match played just a fortnight later with Paul McLean grabbing the opener for City four minutes into the second-half only for Jordon Brown to level the scores with four minutes remaining and it was a repeat pattern at Balmoor Stadium on 22nd November when Alan Trouten opened the scoring early in the second-half only for Bryan Gilfillan to equalise two minutes from the end. The Blue Toon however ran out convincing winners just over a fortnight ago at Balmoor Stadium when goals from Gary McDonald, David Cox and Jordon Brown netted them a 3-0 win.
The Match and Match Ball have been kindly sponsored by Brechin Bowling Club and the Club also welcomes a Boardroom Guest Party from Ramco Tubular Services in Portlethen.
The referee tomorrow night is Stephen Finnie who has refereed a couple of City games this season, the 2-0 away victory against Ayr United at Somerset Park in late October and the 2-2 draw with Morton at Cappielow in mid December.
Admission Prices :- The Management Committee have announced that this game sees the re-introduction of the "Fitba For A Fiver" promotion. This sees the normal gate entry price of £12 slashed to £5 and concessions will get free entry. In addition to that, entry to the 1983 Hospitality Lounge has also been cut to a fiver. So in short you can get Gate and Lounge entry for only a tenner.
