Greenock Morton v Brechin City Match Preview - By John Hoey

Morton v Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City face the long trip south west for the second week in succession as they travel to Greenock to play second placed Morton.

City manager Ray McKinnon will welcome back defender Colin Hamilton and midfielders Bobby Barr and Craig Storie for the match against Jim Duffy's men but he will be without the services of Calum Tapping after the midfielder received two yellow cards in the match against Ayr last Saturday and Alan Trouten of course remains sidelined. Otherwise, there are no fresh injuries to report and the players will be absolutely determined to come away with a victory which would see them retain fourth place in the table with just four games remaining.

City have played well against the Ton in the three previous games between the sides this season. In the first match at Glebe Park on 4th October, City raced into a two-goal half-time lead thanks to an Alan Trouten penalty and a further goal from Robert Thomson, with Kyle McAusland adding a third goal to wrap up the points early in the second-half and although the visitors pulled a goal back through Thomas O'Ware shortly afterwards, City held on for a comfortable victory.
City dominated the return game at Cappielow in December and again raced into a 2-0 half-time lead with goals from Andy Jackson and Jamie Masson but unfortunately Morton reduced the deficit midway through the half with a Jamie McCluskey goal with Declan McManus grabbing the equaliser right at the death.

It was all-square again at the Glebe on 14th February. A hotly disputed penalty, converted by Ross Caldwell eight minutes into the second-half gave Morton the advantage but Robert Thomson came off the bench to score a late and deserved equaliser for City twelve minutes from the end.

The referee for tomorrow's fixture is Colin Steven who was in charge of City's Scottish Cup victory over Stenhousemuir at Ochilview on 1st November.

The Brechin City Supporters Club will be running a bus to the game which will depart from St Ninians Square at 10.00am. please contact Steven Stewart on 07547552209 if you wish to book a seat.
