Aye United - Brechin City Match Preview
Brechin City will embark on the long trip to Ayr tomorrow for the second time in a fortnight and will be hoping to come away from Somerset Park with a different outcome this time round.
Manager Darren Dods will enter the game without the services of City's longest-serving player, Paul McLean. 'Pabs' picked up a stomach injury in the closing stages of last Saturday's game against Dunfermline and the grim news is that he could be out for between four to six weeks. In addition, Dene Shields will also still be out of action with his return estimated to be a further three weeks away.
On the plus front, Darren will be available again after sitting out last Saturday's match because of suspension while versatile defender Jonathan Tiffoney trained this week without any ill-effects and will be available to face his former club. The manager has been busy this week trying to fix up a loan deal for another defender but it will be touch and go whether or not anything transpires before Saturday's match.
City will be determined to take something from tomorrow's match but will face opponents who will want to bounce straight back from their opening day 3-0 league defeat from League One new boys Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill, which was perhaps the shock result from last Saturday's opening fixtures.
The referee will be Barry Cook who refereed four City games last season non of which City lost so let's hope that that's a good omen for tomorrow's game.
Brechin City Supporters Club are running a bus to the match which will depart from St Ninians Square at 10.00am and Steven Stewart (07547552209) is the man to contact if you wish to book a seat.
Admission Prices at Somerset Park are :-
