Brechin City - Airdrieonians Match Preview

It's ninth versus seventh at the Glebe tomorrow when Brechin City play host to Airdrieonians who sit two place above them in the Ladbrokes Scottish League One table.

Neither side have got off to the best of starts with two defeats apiece in their opening league matches but from City's point of view, a lot of encouragement can be taken from the way they acquitted themselves down at Somerset Park last Saturday when many people felt that they were unlucky to go away with nothing to show for their efforts.

Both Ross Perry and David Weatherston who picked up injuries against Ayr (Perry in the pre-match warm-up) trained last night and will be fit to face the Diamonds, but City will of course be without long-term injury victims Paul McLean and Dene Shields as well as goalkeeper Graeme Smith who will be suspended after being red-carded against the Honest Men. Back-up keeper Patrick O'Neil will make his debut against Gary Bollan's side with former City keeper Ben Tough kindly agreeing to help his former club out by taking his place on the subs' bench. Darren also reports that an experienced left-back has been training with the club this week and will be offered a permanent deal,but it's not yet known whether the paperwork will be completed in time for him to be registered for tomorrow although he will be able to be used as a trialist.

The referee will be experienced whistler George Salmond assisted by Ralph Gordon (Stand Side) and Garry Farmer (Hedge Side)
