Brechin City - Forfar Athletic Match Preview
Brechin City will enter tomorrow's derby against Forfar Athletic determined to pick up their first league points of the season.
Ross Perry who was injured in the pre-match warm up at Stranraer is definitely a non-starter with manager Darren Dods anticipating his return to be another couple of weeks away - which is also the time-scale for striker Dene Shields return to first-team action. On the plus side, Paul McLean managed to complete a couple of training sessions this week although Saturday's match against the Loons will probably come too soon for him. David Weatherston who came back from injury last Saturday suffered no ill-effects and will be fit to face Dick Campbell's troops.
Forfar have made an impressive start to the season and were unbeaten in their first four league games before going down to their first defeat last Saturday against Dunfermline Athletic who subsequently replaced the Loons at the top of the Ladbrokes League One table.
Manager Dick Campbell has brought in 26 year old goalkeeper Scott Gallagher on a emergency transfer from Hearts and he will go straight into tomorrow's team, replacing Rab Douglas who has been plagued by a groin strain. Skipper Gavin Swankie and full-back Mark Baxter have both trained this week and if both prove their fitness, they'll no doubt come into Dick's plans. Defender Kevin Nicoll, a close-season acquisition from Arbroath who has missed the last couple of games will also return to the squad.
The referee will be local primary head teacher Mat Northcroft who refereed a couple of City games last season, the 2-1 home victories against Stirling Albion and Ayr United. Let's hope that's a good omen for tomorrow.
Club Main Sponsor Delson are sponsoring the match while the Match Ball is being sponsored by George Johnston. Leah Wood, the daughter of City groundsman Neil Wood is Match Mascot.
"A View from the Hedge" - City's matchday magazine- has been published for this match. Fans can catch up on the latest views of the Manager and Chairman, and tackle the latest fun BCFC Quiz and 'Unscramble the Teamlines'. There is also an exclusive 2-page interview which will allow City supporters to re-acquaint themselves with Assistant Manager, Lee Bailey.
