Peterhead - Brechin City Match Preview - By John Hoey

Peterhead - Brechin City Match Preview.

Brechin City will head up north tomorrow morning still pointless but certainly in good heart despite their 2-0 defeat from Forfar Athletic last weekend, a result which still sees the side anchored at the foot of the table.

City were most unfortunate to come away from that match with nothing to show for their efforts and if they can continue to perform to the standard they displayed in the opening 45 minutes last weekend, then that long awaited first win shouldn't be too long in coming. It would be excellent to come away from Balmoor Stadium tomorrow afternoon with maximum points but it will be certainly far from easy against the Blue Toon.

Jim McInally's men have had a mixed bag of results this season. They started their league campaign with a credible 2-2 draw at Stenhousemuir then followed this up with back to back victories over Stranraer (4-0) and Dunfermline Athletic (2-1) with former City favourite Rory McAllister scoring all four goals in the former fixture. However, since then the Blue Toon have suffered a 1-0 defeat at Airdrieonians with their last two matches against Albion Rovers and Cowdenbeath ending all square.

City manager Darren Dodds will enter the game without the services of central defender Ross Perry while fellow defender Darren McCormack is struggling to be fit. Paul McLean who made a welcome return to the squad when he came on as a second-half substitute against Forfar looks set to return the opening line-up, probably at centre-back alongside youngster David Bates who looked very impressive in his debut against the Loons. Dene Shields who has missed much of the season so far because of injury has also completed a couple of training sessions this week without any ill-effects so he will make a very welcome return to first-team action.

Handling the game tomorrow will be new Category One referee Ryan Milne.

The Brechin City Supporters Club will be running a bus to the match which will depart from St Ninians Square at 10.30am. Please contact Steven Stewart on 07547552209 if you wish to book a seat.
