Robert Thomson was over the moon with his two goals at Peterhead but more importantly, the ex Dundee United and Dunfermline striker feels that the psychological boost that first victory will give the players will spur them on to start putting a winning run together and begin climbing the table.

" Peterhead is always a very difficult place to come to and get a result but it was such a massive win for us on Saturday," he said.

" Having lost all of our previous league matches, we were under a lot of pressure at Balmoor but the boys played really well and fully deserved to win."

" We created a lot of chances throughout the match and while we were under the cosh a bit in the second-half we still managed to create a number of good goal-scoring opportunities."

" It was also the first time this season that we've managed to get our noses in front and that gave us something to hold on to. Although Peterhead came back twice to equalise we still managed to get come back at them and getting that winning goal towards the end was superb"

" The spirit within the dressing-room has been fantastic despite the fact that we've been on a long losing run. The training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday night's have been great and there's a real sense of togetherness amongst the players and we're just so pleased that we managed to get that first victory for the gaffer."

" Hopefully, the result at Peterhead will kick-start our season and we'll be going all out to make it two wins from two games this Saturday against Cowdenbeath."
