Brechin City - Ayr United Match Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Ayr United Match Preview

Brechin City play host to new league leaders Ayr United at Glebe Park tomorrow buoyed by last Saturday's 1-0 win away at Forfar.

It would be no surprise if manager Darren Dods sticks with the same eleven for the second week running and he will clearly be looking for his players to play with the same degree of determination and application that was so clearly in evidence against the Loons. Dene Shields remains side-lined with his return to action estimated to be at the beginning of next month while fellow striker Robert Thomson has still not shaken off a thigh strain picked up against Airdrieonians three weeks ago.

The Honest Men have lost only one of their twelve league fixtures so far, that solitary defeat coming against Albion Rovers on the opening day of the league campaign. They regained pole position at the top of League One last Saturday courtesy of a 3-1 home victory over Stranraer, their goals coming from Robert Crawford, Jamie Adams and Jordan Preston while previous leaders Dunfermline Athletic were being held to a draw at Cowdenbeath.

The only previous league meeting between the sides this season took place at Somerset Park in mid August when an Alan Trouten penalty secured the points for the hosts after the sides were tied at 1-1, Alan Forrest's early opener cancelled out by a goal from Robert Thomson mid-way through the second-half.

The referee tomorrow will be Barry Cook who was also in charge of the previous league meeting between the sides in August.

The match ball is sponsored by J&R Milne, who have a guest party joining us in Hospitality for a birthday celebration, and the official bucket collection is on behalf the Royal British Legion, Brechin branch.
