Cowdenbeath - Brechin City Match Preview
Brechin City will make the relatively short journey into the kingdom of Fife tomorrow to meet Cowdenbeath who sit one place (and one point) above them in the League One table.
City will take a lot of heart and confidence from their performance against league leaders Ayr United last Saturday when many folk thought they were unfortunate not to come away with all three points and the players will certainly be determined to collect maximum points against the Blue Brazil.
With Stranraer not playing until next Tuesday evening, City have the opportunity to move up to eighth place in the table if they can win at Central Park but that will be a far from easy task against a side who are also determined to move away from the foot of the table.
In the only previous meeting between the sides this season, played at Glebe Park in late September, two second-half goals from David Bates and Jonathan Tiffoney secured all three points for City who are almost certain to field the same side for the third week running. Strikers Dene Shields and Robert Thomson remain side-lined and there is also a doubt about Gary Fusco who came on as a second-half sub against Ayr with manager Darren Dods rating his chances at 50/50.
Colin Nish's side didn't have a game last Saturday, their match against Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill falling foul of the weather which also put paid to the re-arranged fixture on Tuesday night. The Fifers will enter the game on the back of an impressive three-game unbeaten run with last Saturday's 0-0 draw against local rivals Dunfermline preceded by an excellent 3-0 victory over Stranraer at Stair Park.
The referee for tomorrow's fixture will be Alan Newlands and admission prices at Central Park are :-
Adults - £14
OAP's (65 and Over) - £7
Youths (Under 16) - £7
Adult & Child - £15 (with one child 12 and under)
£16 (with two children 12 and under)
