Dunfermline Athletic - Brechin City Match Preview - By John Hoey

Dunfermline Athletic - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will make the comparatively short journey into Fife tomorrow to play probably one of their most difficult matches of the season against title contenders Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park.

Darren Dod's City squad will be down to the bare bones with three first team players ruled out of the match. Young centre-back Ross Perry who was stretchered off in the first-half of last week's 3-1 Scottish Cup defeat at Airdrie went for a scan yesterday, the results of which will be known in the next couple of days but it's feared he could be out of action for a lengthy spell, while defender Willie Dyer and skipper Craig Molloy are both suspended. On the plus side, striker Dene Shields has managed a couple of full training sessions this week and will come back into the squad although it's likely he'll be on the bench given his lack of first-team action in recent weeks.

While City were going down at Airdrie last Saturday, Dunfermline booked their passage into the fourth round of the cup courtesy of a 1-0 victory over title challengers Ayr United at Somerset Park with an Andy Geggan goal after 22 minutes ensuring victory.

The two, sides have met only once this season in a game that all City supporters will want to forget with Allan Johnston's men running out 6-1 winners on the day. With league leaders Ayr United being out of action on Saturday, the Fifers have the opportunity to move up to pole position in the Ladbrokes League One table if they manage to beat Brechin but manager Darren Dods and his players will have other ideas and will be very determined to come away from East End Park with something to show for their efforts.

The referee for tomorrow's match will be Glasgow based Colin Steven who has handled only one City match this season, the 3-0 home defeat from Peterhead in the first round of the League Cup on 25th July.

Admission Prices at East End Park are :-

Adults - £15
Concessions - £10
Under 12's - £5

The Brechin City Supporters Club will be running a bus to the match which will depart from St Ninians Square at 11.30am. Please contact William on 07925227826 if you wish to book a seat.
