Stenhousemuir 1 Brechin City 0 (Match Abandoned) - By John Hoey

(Match Abandoned At Half-Time)

Colin McMenamin's first-half opener was wiped off the record books as the League One match between Stenhousemuir and Brechin City was abandoned.
The 34-year-old striker had put Stenny ahead seven minutes before half time at Ochilview Stadium.
But the game was called off during the break because of a frozen pitch on a day when eight other matches were postponed before their kick-offs.

City boss Darren Dods was in no doubt that referee Steven Kirkland had made the correct decision after heavy snow falling on Ochilview's artificial surface had obliterated the lines and made things hazardous for the players.

" I think that the referee made the correct decision although it might have been an easier call to make if the scores had been level," said Darren.

" The referee told me that both linesmen were struggling to see the lines. I don't know what it was like from the stand but certainly it was very hard to tell from where I was positioned in the dug-out."

" With the snow falling before the game it was 50-50 for the match to go ahead but the ref gave it a chance hoping that the snow would go off. However, the conditions actually got worse as the game wore on and it was clearly the right decision to call the match off at half-time."
