Albion Rovers - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will travel through to Coatbridge this evening to face Albion Rovers in a rearranged Ladbrokes League One fixture.

With high-flying Peterhead to be faced on Saturday followed by a local derby against Forfar at the Glebe a week tonight, it would be fantastic if City could enter those games on the back of a victory at Cliftonhill and that will certainly be the outcome the players will be determined to achieve. With Cowdenbeath and Forfar due to meet at Central Park, a City win this evening would see them make ground or overtake one or both of those teams.

City manager Darren Dods will be without midfielder David Weatherston who had to come off the field in Saturday's game against Dunfermline but fellow midfielder Lewis Spence will be available.

City and Rovers have met in a couple of occasions this season with Darren Young's men coming out on top both times. In the first match between the sides at Cliftonhill in late August, Ross Dunlop grabbed the opener for the host in the 23rd minute but City hit back straight away with Craig Johnston converting from the penalty-spot. However, Rovers restored their advantage seven minutes later when John Gemmell netted and a further goal a minute into the second-half from Andy Barrowman wrapped up the points for the home side. In a closely fought encounter at the Glebe a couple of months later a Paul Willis goal for the visitors after 24 minutes was enough to secure Rovers all three points.

Tonight's referee will be Gavin Ross who has been in charge of just one City match this season, the 2-0 home victory over Cowdenbeath in late September.

The Brechin City Supporters Club are running a bus to Cliftonhill which will depart from St Ninians Square at 5.15pm. Please phone William on 07925227826 if you wish to reserve a seat.
