Brechin City - Ayr United Match Preview

Brechin City will be hoping to pick up from where they left off when Ayr United visit Glebe Park in tomorrow's Ladbrokes Scottish League One fixture.

City will enter the match in the back of that incredible local derby win over Forfar Athletic on Tuesday night and there's no doubt that manager Darren Dods will be looking for his players to keep up the good work against the Honest Men.

As far as team news is concerned, Lewis Spence who missed out in Tuesday night because of injury is fit but Andy Jackson is again rated as 50-50 and will undergo a fitness test prior to kick-off. David Weatherston has again unfortunately been ruled out.

The clubs have met on four previous occasions this season with Ayr winning three of the matches with one game drawn.

At Somerset Park in August, goals from former City favourite Gerry McLauchlan and Paddy Boyle saw the hosts advance to the second round of the Scottish League Cup and in the league fixture a couple of weeks later, an Alan Forrest goal gave the hosts an early lead but City fought back to equalise through Robert Thomson late in in the second-half before an Alan Trouten penalty five minutes later secured the points for Ayr.

It was honours shared at the Glebe in November when Isaac Layne cancelled out a James Adams goal while it was again another very close encounter at Somerset Park at the end of December when early goals from Alan Forrest and Craig Moore had given the hosts a two-goal advantage with Robert Thomson reducing the deficit right at the death.

The referee will be David Munro who has been in charge of two City fixtures this season, the 1-0 defeat at Airdrie in October and the 2-0 loss down at Stranraer at the end of January.

The match is being sponsored by Brechin Golf Club and we hope the party thoroughly enjoy their day as club guests.

The match ball has been kindly sponsored by Honorary Life Member of the Club, Ian Jardine
