Airdrieonians - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will travel west to Airdrie on Saturday, hopeful of making it three wins from three games, a statistic they have not managed to achieve this season. However, following morale-boosting victories against Forfar Athletic and Ayr United last week, manager Darren Dods and his players will go into the match optimistic that they can keep that good run going against the Diamonds knowing that a good result could see them gain some ground on either/both Forfar or Cowdenbeath who meet at Station Park.

Liam Watt who has been so impressive since coming in on loan from the Diamonds will unfortunately be unable to play against his parent club but Andy Jackson who missed last Saturday's match against Ayr is fit again and looks likely to be in his usual place. Gary Fusco is also back into the squad following a one-game suspension but both Darren McCormack and David Weatherston are ruled out through injury.

The sides have met on four occasions this season with City still looking for their first win. The Diamonds recorded a 2-1 victory at Glebe Park in August and followed that up with 1-0 and 3-1 (Scottish Cup) home victories before the side shared six goals in their last meeting at the Glebe in January.

The referee will be Barry Cook who has been in charge of two City matches this season, both against Ayr United, the league fixture down at Somerset Park in August which the home side won 2-1 and the 1-1 draw at Glebe Park in early November.
