Brechin v St Johnstone Preview - By Steven Mew

St Johnstone travel to Glebe Park tomorrow in a game where three points will be vitally important to either side, for completely different reasons. City continue to search for their first win in order to claw back some of the ground that currently separates them from QoS and Stranraer in the ‘mini league of three’ down at the bottom end of the table. Meanwhile, St Johnstone need a victory to get their promotion hopes back on track after a poor run of results which has seen them pick up only 5 points from a possible 15. Not exactly Championship winning form and Saints’ boss Owen Coyle has stated that the team need to improve if they are to win the league.

City have met the Saints once so far this season, mid-way through October at McDiarmid Park. Despite Saints taking an early lead through Ryan Stevenson, City battled hard and eventually got their reward when Steven Hampshire’s ambitious shot from outside of the area took a wicked deflection off a Saints defender and looped over the despairing Kevin Cuthbert. Just as a draw looked the most likely outcome, the Saintees’ scored two late goals courtesy of Kevin James and Steven Milne to wrap up all three points.

Paul Deas and Alex Burns are once again doubtful for the match and tomorrow’s game may come a bit too soon for some other players, but late fitness tests will determine if they are fit enough to participate in the match or not. Both Craig Nelson and Gerry Britton will return from suspension.

Stephen Dobbie, Mark Campbell and Kieran McAnespie are all doubtful for the Saints but Kevin Rutkiewicz has overcome an illness and will be available for selection.

Both sets of supporters are asked to note that a strict segregation policy will be in force for Saturdays match with St Johnstone.

All home support must enter and exit the ground from the Cemetery Road End. Stewards and Policy will be instructed to move any suspected home support to the Cemetery Road end of the ground.

Please also note that for the remainder of the 2005/06 season the Car Park facility at Glebe Park will be open to Visiting Buses, players and officials and disabled supporters only. Car passes will be required for any other admittance.

The Management Committee accepts that home support will suffer some inconvenience with these arrangements, however in the interests of safety and control it is deemed necessary to take such action.

Admission prices are £12 for adults and £6 for concession.
